Committee to quiz Energy Minister Michael Shanks
The Scottish Affairs Committee will question Michael Shanks MP, Minister for Energy, in the final session of the committee’s inquiry into GB Energy and the net zero transition.
The cross-party committee will ask the Minister about issues related to the fairness of the energy transition for Scotland. This could include a discussion of Scotland’s community-owned energy sector and plans for community-benefits schemes. It is also likely that MPs will question the Minister on the affordability of energy following the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
MPs may also explore the role of Great British Energy in Scotland and how the Government intends to address the issue of turning off renewable power in Scotland due to low grid capacity.
