MPs explore impact of grid upgrade plans on Scotland
The Scottish Affairs Committee continues the second phase of its inquiry into Great British Energy and the net zero transition by exploring planned upgrades to the electricity grid.
In the first panel, the cross-party committee will hear from Ofgem, the energy market regulator, and NESO, which plans and operates Great Britain’s energy system. MPs will then question industry in the second panel, hearing from SP Energy Networks, E. ON and the battery storage company Zenobe.
Meeting details
Over the two panels, MPs will explore the need for grid upgrades, their delivery, constraint management and the impact on consumer bills.
MPs may also ask about levels of consumer energy debt and Scotland’s community energy sector.
