MPs will question senior officials at the Treasury, including the Permanent Secretary James Bowler, in a Treasury Committee session next Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the Committee are likely to cover topics such as the inquiry into leaks during the 2025 Budget, the department’s relationship with the Office for Budget Responsibility and planned reductions in headcount.

The session with senior civil servants at the Treasury will be immediately followed by a short discussion with the senior team of the Debt Management Office (DMO).

Questions to the DMO will focus on potential risks related to its issuing of gilts.
