Vitaliy Klitschko, Mayor of Kyiv, will give evidence virtually to the Foreign Affairs Committee at 1.30pm on Monday 9 February.
Dr Klitschko is a former champion heavyweight boxer, retiring from the sport in 2013. In 2010, Dr Klitschko was elected Chair of the UDAR Party (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) and went on to represent the party as an MP in 2012. In 2014, Dr Klitschko became a visible political figure during the Maidan protest movement and was later elected and sworn in as mayor of Kyiv. He holdsthehonorary titleofHero of Ukraine.
It will be an opportunity to hear from a leading Ukrainian politician with firsthand experienceof the true costof Russia's full-scale invasion and understand the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
Meeting details
The session is likely to cover the abduction of Ukrainian children by the Russian state and efforts to return the children to Ukraine. The ongoing peace talks, mediated by the US, are likely to be covered.
