One-off session on undersea activity

What is the underwater threat to the UK and UK interests? And what undersea capabilities does Russia have and what is Russia trying to achieve with them? The Defence Committee will hold a one-off session on undersea activity at 10.30am on Tuesday 10 February.

The session will explore the increasing maritime threat to the UK and ask whether we have the capabilities we need to respond.

In November, the Government highlighted that "the UK has seen a 30% increase in Russian vessels threatening UK waters in the past two years". There is likely to be a particular focus on Russia in this session, including exploring the new Atlantic Bastion programme. The witnesses are likely to discuss the use of autonomous maritime vehicles.
