The record of the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR), ahead of its planned abolition and incorporation into the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), is to be the subject of next Wednesday’s Treasury Committee session.

In March last year, the Prime Minister announced the abolition of the PSR ‘as the latest step in reducing the burdens on business’. The Government's intention is that the PSR's remit will be absorbed by the FCA.
MPs are likely to question David Geale, who leads the PSR, on how the merger is likely to benefit consumers and businesses, as well as what changes will be made at an operational level.
The Committee may also cover issues such as Authorised Push Payment Fraud and the National Payments Vision.
