Egg donation and freezing: MPs to hear evidence from the regulator
The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear evidence from the Chief Executive and senior representatives of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), during the fourth and final session of its inquiry into Egg donation and freezing.
Meeting details
The HFEA is the UK’s independent regulator of fertility treatment and embryo research. MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Sarah Owen, will examine the current regulatory framework.
Discussion will also focus on how the HFEA oversees donor welfare, data collection, advertising practices, compensation, counselling provision and global donor limits.
The inquiry’s previous evidence sessions have explored the processes of egg donation and egg freezing and associated health impacts, hearing from academics, stakeholders and clinics.
