How will the energy transition impact energy bills in Scotland?
The Scottish Affairs Committee’s next evidence session, on Wednesday 4 February at 9:30am,will focus on how the energy transition impacts the cost of energy for consumers.
In the first panel, the cross-party committee will hear from fuel poverty charity Scarf, Citizens Advice Scotland and the Scottish Chambers of Commerce on the impact of high energy bills on households and businesses. Questions may focus on the high level of energy debt, fuel poverty and government plans to reduce energy bills.

In the second panel, committee members will hear from the UK Energy Research Centre, Nesta and Energy UK on the policy context behind high energy bills. They may explore how the UK’s wholesale energy market contributes to the UK’s energy prices, whether this has been influenced by the expansion of renewable energy and views on standing charges on bills.
