MPs quiz BBC Scotland Director on BBC Spending, The Traitors and BBC Radio changes
The Scottish Affairs Committee will hold a one-off evidence session in Glasgow with BBC Scotland’s Director, Hayley Valentine, and other senior executives on Monday 26 January at 9:30am.
This session follows on from Hayley Valentine’s first appearance in front of the committee in January 2025, following her appointment to the role of Director in November 2024. The session explored her ambitions for the Director role and the BBC’s larger strategic plans.
Meeting details
The cross-party committee will explore the Director’s reflections on her first year in the role and reduced BBC Spending in Scotland. There could also be questions about Scottish-based production staff on the BBC’s Scottish qualifying network TV, including issues around The Traitors staffing, and the future of its training programmes following the cancellation of River City.
MPs may also discuss progress with the BBC’s Charter Review, changes to BBC Radio programming and its sports broadcasting.
