Lords Committee hears from leading think tanks on its inquiry into settlement, citizenship, and integration
The Justice and Home Affairs Committee is holding its seventh evidence session on settlement, citizenship, and integration. Joining the Committee are representatives from Policy Exchange, the Institute for Government, and Migration Watch UK.

The session will focus on the Government’s policy proposals, the capacity and capability of the Home Office, and how integration and citizenship relate to both the individual and the state.
Possible questions:
- What is the intention behind the Government’s recent policy proposals and will the proposals have the desired effect?
- Can the Home Office effectively oversee proposed changes?
- How does the Home Office monitor those on different visas (student, spouse, worker etc) and how does it ensure compliance and prevent overstaying?
- How do we effectively integrate those migrating to the UK. Does the UK have an integration strategy? What would one look like?
- What are the impacts of current migration patterns on public services?
