Nick Thomas-Symonds to be questioned on UK-EU relations and public inquiries

Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds will appear before the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC).

He will be questioned alongside the department’s Permanent Secretary, Cat Little CB, and EU Director, Hermione Gough, on his core responsibilities such as UK-EU relations. 

The Committee is likely to ask what progress has been made since the UK-EU summit in May last year, including progress in the formal negotiations to deepen links or remove trade barriers in the key areas identified from the summit, such as defence and agri-food products.  

Questions on the wider issues of public inquiries may also be asked as part of the Committee’s recently launched inquiry into the recommendations of the Infected Blood Inquiry. 

The Committee will also question the Minister on the progress of the House of Lords (hereditary peers) Bill.
