Growth to be a focus of upcoming FCA session

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will face questions from the Treasury Select Committee next Tuesday morning.

Nikhil Rathi and Ashley Alder will appear alongside the Deputy Chief Executive, Sarah Pritchard, and the Interim Executive Director of Markets, Simon Walls.

The first section of the session will cover topical issues, which is likely to last for around 30 minutes. This will be followed by a focus on growth for the remainder of the session.

MPs are keen to understand how the regulator is supporting the Government’s ambition to grow the economy, and how witnesses view the impact of potential trade-offs for consumers, businesses and the economy.

Growth-related issues which may come up include which measures the FCA thinks aim to encourage innovation, its thoughts on improving international competitiveness and the regulator’s work on mutuals.
