Justice and Home Affairs Committee holds its sixth evidence session for its inquiry into settlement, citizenship, and integration.
The Committee will be asking academic Professor Thom Brooks about matters relating to the citizenship process, including the Life in the UK test.
Meeting details
The Committee will be asking a wide range of questions to leading citizenship scholar Professor Thom Brooks. The Committee will be asking about the intention behind the Government's policy proposals, the ability of the Home Office to oversee these proposals, and integration strategies in the UK.
Possible questions:
- Will the Government proposals on immigration and asylum increase the control they actually have on people coming to the UK?
- Do immigration, integration, and citizenship matters fit in well at the Home Office?
- Is citizenship more important to the individual, society, or the state?
- What data should we be collecting on the migrant experience and how de we ensure it informs both policy and the public?
- What are the main issues with the Life in the UK test and how should it be refreshed?
