Committee to quiz Minister for Digital Economy on the future of telecoms and broadband
The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee will hold a one-off evidence session questioning the Minister for Digital Economy, Baroness Liz Lloyd CBE, on the government’s vision and plans for telecoms and broadband, and wider issues of digital inclusion.
The cross-party committee will question the minister, who will appear alongside senior officials at the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), on the government’s strategic priorities for telecoms, radio spectrum and post, and the take-up and coverage of fibre broadband.
Meeting details
MPs may also investigate competition in the telecoms infrastructure market, Ofcom’s Telecoms Access Review and the integration of Building Digital UK into DSIT.
There could be questions on the progress of the government’s Digital Inclusion Action Plan and its support for digital skills.
