Dan Jarvis and Sara Khan questioned on combatting extremism
The Home Affairs Committee will hold the final evidence session of its inquiry into combatting new forms of extremism on Tuesday 20 January when it takes evidence from Minister for Security, Dan Jarvis MP, and former Counter Extremism Commissioner, Dame Sara Khan.
Meeting details
The session will explore the key themes of the inquiry and examine the Government’s strategy to detect and combat evolving forms of extremism and radicalisation. This will include whether it plans to make any changes to policy or resourcing to bolster the current approach.
Questioning will focus on issues including the role of online spaces in spreading extremism. It will examine the performance and capacity of Prevent to support the individuals referred to it, particularly in cases where there is no clear ideology. It will also examine the efficacy of wider measures, outside the Prevent process, to tackle extremism.
