Inquiry AI and copyright
Chief Executive Officer at Fairly Trained
Head of Policy and International at DACS
General Counsel and Company Secretary at Copyright Licensing Agency

Background

This inquiry builds on the Committee’s previous work on AI and copyright as part of recent reports into UK scaleups, large language models and the creative industries.

This session examines potential opportunities for licensing copyrighted works for AI uses in the UK and the factors shaping future progress.

Possible areas for discussion

Possible areas for discussion with witnesses include:

  • the emerging UK market for licensing copyrighted works for AI usage;
  • barriers to participation across different sectors and potential solutions for licensing at scale;
  • the role of transparency; and
  • how the Government and regulators might support a coherent, workable framework.
