MPs explore the future of Scotland’s Wood Panelling industry
The Scottish Affairs Committee will hold a one-off evidence session on the sustainability and future of Scotland’s wood panelling industry.
Meeting details
MPs will question Alastair Kerr, Director General of the Wood Panel Industry Federation, and Brian Wilson, former Chair of the Wood Panel Expert Working Group, on the economic and environmental impact of the industry on Scotland.
The cross-party Committee may also investigate the sustainability of wood supply for Scotland’s wood panel industry, the use of waste wood for panel manufacturing and the demand for wood panelling in the UK.
MPs could also explore the wood panelling industry’s exclusion from the UK Government's Industrial Strategy, importing wood from overseas and the impact of plywood’s tariff suspension on Scotland’s domestic wood panelling industry.
