The Commission carries out propriety checks on all political nominations to the House of Lords and makes recommendations for non-party-political life Peers.

The purpose of the session is to review HOLAC’s work in monitoring nominations to the House of Lords, and to consider the role that HOLAC might play in fulfilling the Government’s commitment to reform the appointments process.

The Committee may also ask for Baroness Deech's view on plans to remove hereditary peers as well as the newly established Ethics and integrity Commission.
