Kirstie Allsopp appears alongside other property experts to discuss property taxes ahead of upcoming Budget
TV presenter and property expert, Kirstie Allsopp, will appear alongside a senior executive from Zoopla, a former advisor to Rishi Sunak, and a property taxes expert from the Chartered Institute of Taxation as the Treasury Committee continues its series looking ahead to the upcoming Budget.
Meeting details
During the session, the Committee will explore a range of potential property tax changes available to the Chancellor at her November Budget.
MPs are likely to question witnesses on the potential drawbacks of the current stamp duty land tax system and how it could be improved. MPs are likely to examine Professor Leunig’s proposal to replace Stamp Duty and Council Tax with new annual taxes, given the level of media speculation that this is one of the measures being considered by the Chancellor.
The so-called “Mansion Tax”, landlord taxation and Inheritance Tax may also be discussed.
The Committee could also explore how rumoured changes to Capital Gains Tax may affect the property market.
