New Economic Secretary to give evidence in final session on AI in financial services
The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Lucy Rigby KC MP, will give evidence in the Treasury Committee’s final public session of its inquiry into AI in financial services.
Meeting details
This will be the Minister’s first appearance in front of the Treasury Committee since she succeeded the Rt Hon Emma Reynolds MP in the role last month.
Over the course of the inquiry, MPs have heard the view of the finance sector, AI experts, the Financial Conduct Authority and Bank of England policymakers.
Given her responsibility over financial services policy within the Treasury, MPs will question Ms Rigby on how the Treasury perceives the use of AI in the financial services sector including the Government's view on how strongly it needs to be regulated.
Ms Rigby is also likely to be asked whether she believes any risks to consumers or financial stability are outweighed by the potential benefits which wider use of AI could bring about.
