Lords discuss post-Brexit European police cooperation
On Tuesday 3 November 2020, the Security and Justice Sub-Committee in the House of Lords, with Lord Ricketts Chairing, will take evidence on European police cooperation in the post-Brexit world from senior UK police officers Sir Rob Wainwright, former head of Europol, and the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s Lead for Brexit, DAC Martin. As negotiations with the EU continue, the Committee looks forward to discussing the impact of Brexit on the UK’s law enforcement landscape and the importance of the Government securing a replacement law enforcement deal with the EU 27 by the end of year.

- The day-to-day practical importance to UK law enforcement of EU based police cooperation measures;
- The minimum contents of a practical policing agreement between the UK and the EU 27;
- The quality of the Government’s contingency planning for policing following a no-deal separation between the UK and the EU 27 at the end of the year; and,
- Michael Gove MP’s recent claim in the House of Commons that the UK can protect its borders better from outside the EU than it ever could as an EU Member State.
