Insurance bosses to be questioned by MPs
Next Tuesday, the Treasury Select Committee will hold a one-off session on the state of the insurance industry with bosses from four major firms.
Meeting details
Executives from Admiral, Aviva, AXA and Scottish Widows (part of Lloyds Banking Group) are set to appear in front of the Committee for a wide-ranging session.
MPs will be seeking to understand the main challenges, concerns and opportunities facing the insurance sector and their customers.
Witnesses may be asked for their view on the current Government’s approach to financial services, including whether they believe the Mansion House Accord is likely to have the desired effect on economic growth.
Another area of interest may be how insurance companies are planning for the impacts of Climate Change-related events on how they measure risk, and the possibility that certain areas and circumstances become ‘uninsurable’.
Other topics which may come up include pricing, the Consumer Duty and the use of artificial intelligence by insurers.
