What should the committee put under the microscope next? MPs to hear shortlisted pitches on scientific research
The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee will hear pitches from shortlisted researchers on what areas of scientific research the committee should explore next.
This pitch session forms part of the committee’s Under the Microscope inquiry. The inquiry invited everyone – from academics and businesses to school groups – to send in ideas on what MPs should examine next, receiving 309 submissions.
Based on these submissions, the committee has decided on new inquiries and one-off evidence sessions, which will be announced in due course.

Additionally, based on the submissions, the committee has identified topics of scientific research, ranging from microbiomes to neuromorphic computing, which could be the basis of a one-off evidence session. MPs will consider each shortlisted topic and choose one for an evidence session later this year. A full list of researchers, their pitch topics and timings can be found below.
