Game On inquiry: MPs to question DCMS and DfE Ministers on community and school sports
The CMS Committee will question Minister for Sport, Media, Civil Society and Youth Stephanie Peacock and School Standards Minister Catherine McKinnell in the final evidence session of its community and school sports inquiry.
Meeting details
The hearing will be a chance to explore with the Ministers and DCMS and DfE officials the evidence heard so far in the inquiry, which is is examining the health of sport in local communities and schools and whether more can be done to sustain and grow sporting opportunities for all.
There are likely to be questions on recent Government funding announcements and its new approach to building partnerships between schools, local sports clubs and governing bodies.
The session could also explore what the Government is doing to provide sporting opportunities and increase participation in traditionally under-represented groups, a topic raised in evidence throughout the inquiry.
Other subjects that could be raised include PE in schools, support for volunteers involved in community sport, and the provision of playing fields in light of proposals to remove Sports England as a statutory consultee on planning applications.
