New HMRC Permanent Secretary JP Marks to appear in front of Committee for first time
the Treasury Committee will question officials from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on Wednesday 4 June, including the newly-appointed First Permanent Secretary and CEO, John- Paul Marks.
Meeting details
MPs are likely to want to hear Mr Marks’ vision for the department, including which areas he intends to focus on in the initial months of his tenure.
It has been widely reported that tax changes implemented during the Chancellor’s 2024 Autumn Budget have led to behavioural changes, including an increase in money gifted to family members. The Committee may ask the panel for their view on this and other recent tax changes.
Other areas which may be looked at include the tax gap, pensions and plans for improving customer service.
