Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin to face questions from Defence Committee

Outgoing Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin will appear in front of the Defence Committee at 3pm on Tuesday 10 June.  

The session will be wide-ranging, covering Defence Reform, the Strategic Defence Review (SDR), recruitment and retention and the readiness of the Armed Forces.

Members are likely to question the Chief of the Defence Staff on the SDR’s proposals to transform the Armed Forces into an Integrated Force, and how the ambitions within the SDR can be achieved with the current spending envelope. The Committee may also discuss the SDR’s principle of “NATO first” and the impact this may have on other UK strategic priorities. 

The treatment and experiences of personnel are likely to be discussed, including the unacceptable behaviours towards women and ethnic minority personnel.
