Health and Social Care Committee hear from projects delivering good practice in community mental health services
The Health and Social Care Committee continues its Community Mental Health Services inquiry this week, taking evidence on good and innovative practice in community mental health services.
Meeting details
In a four panel session, MPs will hear from representatives from a range of community led mental health initiatives, to elucidate exemplars of good practice, which could be replicated across the country.
In the first panel, Members will take evidence from representatives from the charities Chasing the Stigma and Black Minds Matter UK, as they explore barriers to accessing support, and how stigma around access could be reduced.
At 10am, MPs will hear from the Founder of lived experience-led community organisation Coffee Afrik CIC, along with the CEO of KeyRing Living Support Network. The Committee will ask how NHS and local authorities could better commission services to support community and peer-led organisations to deliver their work.
In the third panel, the Committee will explore innovation in community mental health services, questioning representatives from The Life Rooms, a complimentary NHS service run by Mersey Care, and Navigo, a not-for-profit social enterprise commissioned by the NHS and social care to deliver mental health services.
In the final witness panel at 11am, MPs will question academics on how research can be linked to service delivery in mental health care and improving outcomes of people with severe mental illness.
