Mission Government: Is the Government adequately prepared to achieve its five missions?
Next Tuesday, the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) will hold the first public evidence session of its inquiry into Mission Government.
In the session, MPs will question expert witnesses from thinktanks. Directors at Demos, Future Governance Forum and Reform think tank will give their view on the Government’s ability to deliver on its key Missions.
Meeting details
The Committee will examine what the key components of a Mission Government are and the extent to which the Government has put them in place to achieve its five Missions: growing the economy, an NHS fit for the future, safer streets, opportunity for all, and making Britain a clean energy superpower.
In December of last year, Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary, Cat Little CB, raised concerns that “we tend to revert to our departmental and organisational silos under pressure”. MPs are likely to ask whether witnesses believe enough has been done to break down departmental silos and facilitate collaborative working on cross-cutting issues.
