The Work and Pensions Committee will question fuel poverty campaigners and energy industry representative group Energy UK as energy prices remain 43% than before the energy crisis, despite having fallen back over the last two years from their peak. Meanwhile, the Government has restricted eligibility to Winter Fuel Payments, worth up to £300, to those in receipt of Pension Credit and  certain other means-tested benefits.

MPs will also ask witnesses about their observations and experience about how pensioners around or below the poverty line are coping, to what extent other forms of support are helping, including those available from energy firms, and around social tariffs.
