Sport England CEO among witnesses to be quizzed on funding and facilities for community and school sport
The Culture, Media and Sport Committee continues its inquiry into community and school sport, with a session examining the current funding landscape and the role of volunteers in connecting sports clubs to communities.
Meeting details
To begin the session, the Committee will hear from the CEOs of the Football Foundation and UKactive, and a member of the Local Government Association to discuss the availability of funding and facilities. Questions are also likely to explore the impact of ‘Place’ based funding on improving diversity in both the activities and participants.
MPs will then hear evidence from the CEO of Sport England, Tim Hollingsworth, ahead of his departure from the organisation. Mr Hollingsworth is likely to be questioned on the role of volunteers, how more people could be better incentivised to donate their time to support community and school sports, and the accountability of groups and clubs receiving funding.
MPs are also likely to provide an opportunity for Mr Hollingsworth to reflect more broadly on his time at Sport England.
