Planning and Infrastructure Bill - Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee hears from LGA and planning experts
The Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee holds a one-off evidence session examining aspects of the current Planning and Infrastructure Bill with the Local Government Association and planning experts.
Meeting details
The bill would make changes to the law around planning and infrastructure to support ambitions in the government’s Plan for Change. These ambitions include delivering 1.5 million homes and deciding 150 nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs) before the end of the 2024 parliament.
The cross-party Committee expect to ask questions on issues relating to planning fees and charges, planning committees, and Spatial Development Strategies (SDSs).
MPs are also likely to explore questions around development corporations, compulsory purchase, and Environmental Delivery Plans.
