How can Wales attract more investment? MPs hear evidence from experts
On Wednesday 26 March, MPs on the Welsh Affairs Committee will explore what factors might be holding Wales back from attracting investment.
Meeting details
The Committee’s inquiry on promoting Wales for inward investment will investigate how Wales can be promoted as a competitive destination for international investment and what can be learned from success stories in sectors like the creative industries and sport.
Inward investment refers to entities registered in other countries investing in or purchasing assets within the UK. Companies that receive inward investment are often more productive, invest more in development, and generally make a large contribution to the UK economy.
MPs are likely to ask witnesses from academia, industry and the public sector what barriers disincentivise inward investment to Wales, how the country can remain a competitive destination for investment, and what role the Welsh diaspora around the world could play.
MPs are also likely to ask about the Welsh ‘brand’: whether it is a compelling proposition for investors, and how individual regions can be represented within it.
