Permanent Secretary to be questioned on the Cabinet Office’s headcount and spending
Permanent Secretary, Cat Little CB, will be questioned on the Cabinet Office’s administration and spending by MPs on the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) at 10am next Tuesday.
The Committee will scrutinise the Cabinet Office’s expenditure over the 2023-24 financial year, the department's wider performance, and the progress on its major projects. The session will draw upon the department’s most recently published annual report and accounts.
In December 2024, it was reported that the Cabinet Office had a target to reduce its headcount by 400 full-time staff. However, recent announcements have seen that number rise to 2,100. Questions are likely to be asked on how this will impact staff morale as well as the department’s ability to deliver on the Government’s priorities.

MPs may also choose to question witnesses on management and reporting at the Government Property Agency (GPA), considering concerns raised by the National Audit Office’s Comptroller and Auditor General regarding its financial reporting.
