Grenfell and building safety - Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee hears from Grenfell community, London Fire Brigade, Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council
On Tuesday morning, the Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee will be hearing from a range of witnesses, including from the Grenfell community, Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council, London Fire Brigade, and from building safety and building control representatives.

The evidence session is part of the HCLG Committee’sinitial activity on the Government’s response to the Grenfell Inquiry recommendations (Phase 2) and the Committee may also explore progress on the wider programme of work around building and fire safety and remediation.
At the session on Tuesday, the cross-party group of MPs are expected to ask questions around implementing the recommendations of the Phase 2 Grenfell Tower Inquiry report, including those concerning emergency planning and resilience, fire and rescue services, and building safety regulations.
It will also be an opportunity for representatives from the Grenfell community to reflect on the future of the Grenfell site and on Government engagement with the community.
The Committee will also examine questions around fire safety assessment and accreditationand how to improve the way that building control operates in the future.
Alex Norris, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Growth and Building Safety, will appear before the Committee on Tuesday 1 April.
