Committee discusses energy infrastructure challenges

The Industry and Regulators Committee will continue its inquiry into the energy grid and grid connections by hearing from the Electricity Networks Commissioner, Nick Winser CBE. The Committee will examine what progress has been made in accelerating electricity transmission network deployment since his review of the subject in 2023. The Committee will discuss how to ensure energy network projects can progress through the planning system smoothly and what form community benefits for those living near network infrastructure should take. The Committee will also consider how the National Energy System Operator will provide strategic planning of the energy system and Ofgem’s role in approving network infrastructure.
