WEC to examine standards and regulation governing cosmetic procedures

The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear from medical experts during the third evidence session of its inquiry into the health impacts of breast implants and other cosmetic procedures on Wednesday, 16 July.

MPs on the cross-party committee chaired by Labour MP Sarah Owen will examine professional standards, clinical practice, and patient safety within the cosmetic industry. They will also look at regulation of non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

The first inquiry evidence session in May explored the PIP implant scandal, the rise in cosmetic procedures, liquid BBLs (Brazilian butt lifts) and liquid boob jobs. The second focused on the drivers, touching upon the issues of social media, advertising, cosmetic tourism and body image.
