WEC to hear evidence from Baroness Bertin on pornography
The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear from Baroness Bertin, lead reviewer of the independent review into the regulation of online pornography on Wednesday, 9 July.
Meeting details
As part of WEC’s inquiry into Misogyny: the manosphere and online content, MPs on the cross-party committee chaired by Labour’s Sarah Owen are examining how online content and the availability of violent pornography is contributing to sexist and misogynistic attitudes, behaviour and violence against women and girls both online and offline.
Baroness Bertin recently led the Government’s independent review into the regulation of online pornography ‘Creating a safer world – the challenge of regulating online pornography’.
Discussion is expected to focus on research findings relating to pornography and violent crime, porn platforms and existing regulations, plus the role of education.
