WEC to hear from Ministers on female entrepreneurship
The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear from Baroness Gustafsson, Minister for Investment and Gareth Thomas, Minister for Services, Small Business and Export during the fourth and final evidence session of its female entrepreneurship inquiry on Wednesday, 2 July.
Meeting details
MPs on the cross-party committee chaired by Labour MP Sarah Owen will hear from Government ministers as well as senior representatives from the Office for Equality and Opportunity (OEO) and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT).
The session will focus on the ways in which Government can provide greater support for female entrepreneurs and unlock more investment opportunities, growth, and support for female-founded businesses.
WEC’s inquiry on female entrepreneurship assesses the barriers women face pursuing entrepreneurialism, analysing in which sectors of the economy women face the greatest obstacles to entrepreneurship and why, and considers what can be done to address these.
The inquiry’s first evidence session in April discussed the current state of female entrepreneurship in the UK, while its second evidence session in May explored the experiences of entrepreneurship with four female founders. The third session in June heard from four business investors.
