Bank of England Governor to face questions on UK financial stability

Members of the Financial Policy Committee (FPC), including the Governor of the Bank of England, will respond to questions from the Treasury Committee at 14.15 on Wednesday 29 January.

Questions will relate to the most recent Financial Stability Report, published by the FPC on 29 November 2024.  

As the current Government asks regulators to take steps which contribute to economic growth, MPs may choose to question witnesses on any risks this could pose to the UK’s financial stability.  

MPs on the Committee may ask about the impact of increasing government debt and recent moves in borrowing costs, as well as the use of tech and AI in financial services.
