The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, the Rt Hon Wes Streeting, will make his first appearance before the Health and Social Care Committee in a public evidence session on Wednesday 18 December at 9.30am.

MPs will use the session to question the Secretary of State about the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan, including its ambition to shift healthcare from hospital to community settings, with the Committee probing how the Department’s approach to this issue will differ from previous attempts to achieve this shift. 

The Committee is also expected to ask the Health Secretary about the Government’s efforts to reduce waiting lists, and its plans for social care. 

Mr Streeting will appear alongside Tom Riordan, the Second Permanent Secretary in the Department, and Matthew Style, the Director General for Secondary Care and Integration, in the Department of Health and Social Care.
