The Committee has just concluded its ‘roadshow’ - six UK cities in three days - hearing from business, trades unions and consumer groups on their priorities for this Parliament, and on Tuesday 17 December it will open its first full inquiry, into the flagship Employment Rights Bill, with a look at the state of industrial relations in Britain today.
Meeting details
This session will provide Amazon with its first opportunity to explain its approach to industrial relations in Parliament, alongside evidence from BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover and major trade unions GMB and TUC.
What impact do unions, trade associations and businesses expect the reforms in the Employment Rights Bill to have on industrial relations, and what might a future industrial relations settlement look like for the UK labour market?
Chair of the BTC Rt Hon Liam Byrne said: “The Government has set its sights on a pro-worker, pro-business agenda. But has it got the balance right? In this new enquiry we’ll be lighting up the key issues at stake and reporting back in time for the House to hear what we heard before the Report stage of the bill.”
