WEC to hear evidence on gendered Islamophobia

The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hold a one-off evidence session in Parliament on Wednesday, 15 January examining issues around gendered Islamophobia.

he session aims to understand the specific challenges facing Muslim women in the UK today. Discussion is expected to focus on the barriers women face reporting Islamophobia and the ways gendered Islamophobia can be challenged.

It will also examine how gendered Islamophobia impacts women and girls in the areas of sport, education, and employment. The session will also touch upon the issue of non-consensual image abuse.

The evidence session follows the launch in December of WEC’s new inquiry into community cohesion.
