Alistair Burt to give evidence on Israeli-Palestinian conflict
The Foreign Affairs Committee will hold the first evidence session in its inquiry into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, hearing from Alistair Burt on Tuesday 3 December, at 2.00pm.
Alistair Burt served as Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa at Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Meeting details
The session will focus on the UK’s role in seeking sustainable and peaceable settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in the form of a two-state solution. It will consider how the UK can work with allies and partners within the region and in the wider world to bring about a resolution to the conflict.
Questions are likely to focus on how a ceasefire can be brought about in Gaza, and what levers the UK may be able to pull to progress towards a ceasefire. The question of whether the UK should recognise a Palestinian state is likely to be covered in the session. The Committee is likely to cover how the UK could work with regional and global partners.
