The Justice and Home Affairs Committee is questioning Seema Malhotra MP, Minister for Migration and Citizenship. This session continues the Committee’s follow-up work on Electronic Border Management Systems.

The Committee will cover a range of topics, including the continued roll out of the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) and the Home Office’s response to the EU’s decision to delay the introduction of the Entry / Exit System (EES).

Possible Questions:

  • Following the EU’s decision to delay the introduction of the Entry / Exit System (EES), what discussions has the Government had with the EU itself and with Member States (particularly France)?
  • What is the Government’s ambition for the future of UK-EU co-operation on border management?
  • What is the Government’s position on youth mobility?
  • What is the Home Office view of the Common Travel Area and its governance arrangements?
  • Does Border Force have the necessary capacity and flexibility to implement change and learn lessons from experience?
