Work and Pensions Secretary of State, Mel Stride, faces questions from the Work and Pensions Committee in an accountability session examining the work of the DWP as well as recent Government announcements and policy developments.

The Secretary of State, who appears alongside DWP Permanent Secretary Peter Schofield, is likely to be asked about the Government’s approach to welfare reform, including the latest plans to change how eligibility is assessed for the health aspect of Universal Credit, the timetable for further UC migration and fraud and error.

There could also be questions on issues that the Committee has recently been in touch with DWP about, including what the Department is doing to address the problem of Carer’s Allowance overpayments and the Government’s response to the Parliamentary and Health Ombudsman’s report on the women’s state pension age.
