A flexible grid for the future inquiry: ESNZ Committee holds session on infrastructure, markets and institutional governance
The fifth oral evidence session in the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee’s flexible grid for the future inquiry considers the progress made so far in reforming strategic energy planning, the challenges to the delivery of electricity transmission infrastructure and the potential benefits of zonal pricing.
Meeting details
The first panel focuses on the reforms needed to procedures to connect suppliers to the transmission and distribution networks, how to encourage workers into the sector and ensure it has the skills it needs and the role of community benefits in the planning process.
MPs then go on to explore with the second panel the potential benefits of introducing zonal pricing to the electricity wholesale market, institutional governance issues and how consumer participation in demand flexibility might be supported.
