MPs on the Business and Trade Committee will question former Business Secretaries and Lord Harrington over how to boost UK industry and foreign direct investment (FDI).

Former Business Secretaries, Lord Mandelson, Vince Cable and Greg Clark will be quizzed on the past and current state of UK industrial policy, as well the future steps that the UK should take to steer the development of UK industry in a competitive global economy.

Lord Harrington authored  a report late last year that recommended the UK take a more active approach attracting foreign investment, which is an important lever of business investment, with more than £2 trillion invested into the UK to date. MPs will question Lord Harrington on the progress the Government has made since then.

This will be the first session of the Committee’s Industrial policy inquiry.
