In the first panel, MPs will hear from representatives of the Association for Citizenship Teaching, PSHE Association and the National Association of Head Teachers. Members will explore the panel’s views on the current provision and adequacy of financial education, which has formed part of the National Curriculum since 2014.

Questions may be asked about the challenges of teaching financial education, including insufficient time, a lack of training, and Ofsted’s role in its delivery. The expansion of financial education to primary school and post-16 levels could also be discussed.

The Committee will then question representatives of GoHenry, MyBnk, Young Enterprise and Santander UK. MPs are likely to ask about the variety of methods used to deliver financial education and their effectiveness for different age groups. They may also focus on the support teachers have to deliver this education, as well as the resources available to them.
