Fire safety – Levelling Up Committee questions Government Minister

On Wednesday, the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee will hold an evidence session on fire and building safety when it questions Lee Rowley MP, Minister of State for Housing, Planning and Building Safety.

At 10:30am: Oral evidence
Inquiry Fire Safety
Minister of State for Housing, Planning and Building Safety at Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities
Director of Regulatory Reform, Safer Greener Buildings at Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities

As part of its fire safety work, the Committee held an evidence session on 27 November with questions to Paul Morrell OBE and Anneliese Day KC, the co-authors of the Independent Review of the Construction Products Testing Regime (transcript of 27 November session).

The Review was commissioned by the Government partly in response to the Grenfell Tower fire.

The Committee is likely to question the Minister on the Government’s response to the Independent Review and on its progress to reform the construction products testing regime. The Committee is also likely to examine product safety enforcement, construction product standards, and the implementation of the Building Safety Act 2022.
