On Wednesday 10 January 2024, the Public Services Committee continues their evidence sessions for its inquiry exploring the transition from education to employment for young disabled people.
This week, the Committee is hearing from the Association of Schools and College Leaders (ASCL) and Education Partnership North East who will be talking about the provision of support in schools and colleges for young disabled people. The Committee will discuss special educational needs (SEN) support, careers advice and guidance, and access to work experience. The session will also consider the barriers faced by education leaders in delivering support in schools, and their experience of linking with other public services, such as employment support offered by local authorities and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
